The Class of ’24

The Westway Sessions is an intimate concert series launched in May 2022 at Piano, Smithfield in London. The three seasons of Sessions at Piano hosted some of the most exciting names in musical theatre, including Alice Fearn, Rob Houchen, Rachel John, Cassidy Janson, John Owen-Jones and Natalie Paris.

2023 saw us move to the famous Crazy Coqs cabaret club in Piccadilly, with more fantastic artists including Jenna Lee James, Sejal Keshwala and Hiba Elchikhe. For our ‘Class of 24’ we’re back at Piano, Smithfield near The Barbican for another dazzling season of the best emerging West End talent. See you at the shows!

Djavan van de Fliert

Djavan van de Fliert

Djavan van de Fliert made his début on the West end Stage at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2022. Right after graduating he first caught the audience’s attention as Kristoff in Disney’s Frozen: The Musical, right after graduating Arts Educational Schools London a couple of months prior. He was subsequently nominated for Best Professional Debut for his portrayal at the 23rd annual WhatsOnStage Awards. 

After his run in Frozen, he took over the role of Enjolras in the 38th year of Les Misérables at the Sondheim theatre. The shift from a Disney musical to revolutionary France happened in just 24 hours, as he ended his run on September 24th and had his first show on the barricades on the 25th!

‘An Evening with Jenny’ is Jenny’s debut solo concert. Come join Jenny as she ‘blasts through the past’ ten years of her career. With songs and guests from the shows Jenny has been in over the past decade, it promises to be a fab solo debut and celebration of Jenny’s musical career thus far!

Lewis Cornay

Lewis Cornay is an award-winning performer and writer who marries a heartfelt voice with a wicked sense of humour. You may have recently seen him in London as SpongeBob SquarePants, or opposite Rachel Tucker as John in John & Jen. In this intimate new concert you can expect some twists on classics, contemporary bangers and unique original material.  Lewis will joined by very special guest Chrissie Bhima.

Some of Lewis’ theatre credits include The SpongeBob Musical (Southbank Centre & UK Tour), Whistle Down the Wind (The Watermill), The Curious Case of Lewis Cornay (The Other Palace), John & Jen (Southwark Playhouse and 54 Below, New York) and The Book of Mormon (Prince of Wales Theatre). Cornay was also awarded the New Musical Theatre Award for his writing and has had work staged at Seven Dials Playhouse, The Other Palace, Omnibus Theatre and New Wolsey. Award-Winning West End performer Claudia Kariuki brings their live and intimate show to Piano Smithfield for a night honouring the vocal and musical influences that have long inspired their life, as we take a look back on her career thus far.Claudia recently finished a 2 year run as Jane Seymour in SIX the Smash Hit Musical, for which they won the ‘Best Non-Binary Performer in a Musical’ Award at the 2023 Black British Theatre Awards for their performance.

With an extensive and eclectic career taking on the biggest West End, UK & international stages as well as the London Cabaret scene, we join Claudia for a night of celebration of music and of life.

Madalena Alberto

Madalena Alberto

West End leading lady, Madalena Alberto, returns to London with an intimate solo concert. She’ll be accompanied by Billy Bullivant on piano, Zivorad Nikolic on accordian, Robert Jane on percussion and will play the electric-acoustic guitar herself. This musical evening will inevitably take us through shows that marked Madalena’s career, as well as featuring her favorite standards and some of her own compositions.

Madalena Alberto is originally from Portugal and has made London her home. She is best known for playing the title role in EVITA, a part she was critically acclaimed for at the Dominion Theatre. Madalena was recently seen on the Portuguese hit TV series AMOR, AMOR, in the regular role of Julieta. Madalena is also a songwriter and a proud associate artist of Chaskis Theatre Company.

Jaz is beyond excited to debut her solo fundraiser concert here at the piano Smithfield.  She was most recently part of &Juliet in London’s West End, some of her previous credits include Lifeboats, Queenz, SuperYou and Kinky Boots. 

This Concert is all about providing a safe space to connect with community and for her to share stories and songs that are very close to her heart and journey. The show will also go towards her GoFundMe Fund, to allow her to move forward with gender affirming care. Prepare for a night of unapologetic queerness, golden tunes, full out choreo, special guests and cutsie bootsie lewks. Grab a ticket and come have a ball!

Rachel hails from the world of musical theatre where she has had an extensive career performing in the West End & touring the world.

With powerhouse vocals, diva hits through the decades, and a sprinkling of songs you will recognise from some of the most well known musicals, it’s a night not to be missed!
